Typhoon Wreaks Havoc in Shanghai
On September 16, Typhoon Becca made landfall in Shanghai, causing significant damage.
Social media users captured the storm's destructive power, showing trees snapping in half, streetlights toppling, and metal sheeting dislodged.
Becca, the 13th typhoon of the season, was a strong typhoon with maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour (87 miles per hour) and a central pressure of 955 millibars, making it the strongest typhoon to hit Shanghai since 1949.
Meteorologists warn that the worst of the storm is yet to come, with heavy rain and possible thunderstorms expected throughout the day. Rainfall could reach torrential levels in some areas, before gradually tapering off in the evening.
During the typhoon, residents are advised to remain indoors and prepare emergency supplies, including food, water, and medications. Stay informed about the storm's progress and follow any official warnings or advisories.
